April’s newsletter opened ARC (Advance Review Copy) reader applications exclusively to subscribers! Newsletter readers got first access to apply for 20-50 spots to receive A Fog of Shadows early in exchange for honest reviews by June 10. We also delivered April’s exclusive content—Chapter 3 (“The Feast”), where Kateri steps out of hiding and discovers the arena has completely transformed. Newsletter subscribers read the full chapter before anyone else. This month’s book club pick was The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, featuring Jude—a mortal girl refusing to be underestimated in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Applications closed April 17, selected readers notified by April 21, and digital copies sent by April 25. Just 58 days until launch!

March’s first newsletter brought an exclusive character spotlight on Heather—Kateri’s sister and Book 2’s heroine! Newsletter subscribers learned about her empath powers (she can feel emotions through touch), her thoughtful and strategic nature, and why kindness wrapped in steel makes her one of the strongest characters you’ll meet. We revealed her love interest: Mikkel, the most serious and guarded Ren brother, setting up an intense enemies-to-lovers journey in A Line of Shadows (Book 2). The book club pick was Uprooted by Naomi Novik—perfect for fans of grumpy wizards and fierce heroines discovering their power. Plus, pre-orders for A Fog of Shadows officially opened across all major retailers! Just 85 days to launch.

January’s newsletter went out to subscribers with the official launch date announcement for A Fog of Shadows! If you’re not subscribed yet, you’ll have to wait to find out when. Newsletter readers also received a complete preview of the exclusive content coming throughout spring—character spotlights, bonus scenes, chapter excerpts, and more. We shared what February’s first exclusive will be, gave an update on the final editing process, and started the year with some thoughts on new dreams and fresh starts. This month’s book club pick was Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.

November’s newsletter featured The Starlit Prince as our book club read—a romantasy full of secrets and star-crossed fate. Subscribers got a softer moment from A Fog of Shadows this time: Kateri and Magnus’s swoon-worthy banter (“Don’t you ever blink?”). We dove into the Gilded Dusk trilogy, introducing Reyna—an assassin hunting rogue vampires in Galveston with a reluctant alliance that sparks some serious enemies-to-lovers tension. Plus, IndieWriMo kicked off and we invited readers to join the writing challenge!

September’s newsletter introduced our book club read The Stolen Kingdom by Bethany Atazadeh—a clean fantasy romance retelling of Aladdin with forbidden magic and palace intrigue. Subscribers got a writer’s tip on beating writer’s block (permission to write badly!), plus free access to Chapter 1 of A Fog of Shadows. We also shared what’s next: editing Book Two (Unbroken Shadows) featuring Heather’s story, and early sketches for a brand-new series. NaNoWriMo announcements rounded out the month—who’s ready to write 50,000 words in November?
